Of Eclipse Preferences and Oxford
As if the number of preferences in eclipse was not mind boggling enough. An english challenged person like myself have to open up an oxford dictionary to see what some words in the preference pages mean.

I’ve filed a bug against this. Please add your comments if you feel that affordance does not add to the usability affordance of the user interface.
From the WikiPedia page:
An affordance is a quality of an object, or an environment, that allows an individual to perform an action. The term is used in a variety of fields: perceptual psychology, cognitive psychology, environmental psychology, industrial design, human–computer interaction (HCI), interaction design and artificial intelligence.
And since when you switched to Mac? I thought you were a hardcore Linux guy?

Hardcore Gentoo user was more like it. But I had to return the Dell and ThoughtWorks started rolling out Macs for those who wanted to opt for one

Also, why the hell is that an option in a settings pane?
It sounds like someone was too scared of changing the design of the current hover pop-ups and thought “oh, I know! i’ll just make it an option you can disable in the settings pane! then i can send people who complain about it to that pane, and the world will be good again!”… when in fact, for each extra option in a settings pane, you’re increasing the amount of complexity and UI inconsistency considerably.
