Eclipse Plugin Development at GNUnify '07
As part of raising awareness about “The Pune Eclipse Developers’ Group“, Sriram and me spoke on “Eclipse Application Development” at GNUnify 07.
The talk had about a little less than 20 attendees. Considering that unlike most of the other talks — we were going to get our hands dirty with eclipse code, and add to it the competition from some other talks from folks at ThoughtWorks, and other popular talks on LAMP, et.al. — 20 was indeed a good audience.
We demonstrated development of an insurance Eclipse RCP application, this was based on the chapter AHA, from “The Design Patterns Smalltalk Companion.”
Howto on this application is available here.
Here is the presentation uploaded to slideshare.net:

Bar camp pune2 was great
It was great to be at Bar Camp Pune2. Got to meet a lot of developers. The discussions varied from Agile, XP, booting and installing Belenix over the network (specifically PXE), cracking a set-top-box, and more importantly crack-proofing it.
An user group for eclipse users is also on the cards, you should see more on this front in sometime.
